Hendricks County’s Bicentennial Time Capsule Dedication

Everyone is invited to the Hendricks County’s Bicentennial Time Capsule dedication on Saturday, December 10th starting at 1 PM. It will be held at Hendricks County Government Center 355 South Washington Street, Danville, Indiana. Over 200 items have been donated by Hendricks County citizens, organizations and businesses. These items will be on display at the dedication.

Hendricks County’s Bicentennial Time Capsule has been designated an Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project. The time capsule celebrating Hendricks County in Indiana’s Bicentennial will be placed in the Hendricks County Government Center and is slated to be opened during Indiana’s Tricentennial in 2116. Hendricks County’s Bicentennial Time Capsule is sponsored by Hendricks Regional Health.

Bicentennial Birthday Bash at Danville Public Library

In December 2015, the Indiana Room at Danville Public Library kicked off our year long Indiana Bicentennial Celebration on Statehood Day – December 11th . Our celebration will end with a Bicentennial Birthday Bash on Monday, December 12th during regular library hours. Also, patrons may enter our Bicentennial Raffle! The Friends of the Danville Library have donated two books as prizes in the raffle. The books are Indiana’s 200: The People Who Shaped the Hoosier State and Indiana at 200: A Celebration of the Hoosier State. The raffle is limited to one entry per patron and it will be drawn on December 12th. Be sure to visit the raffle display in the Adult Department!

The Genealogy Nuts are a support group for the genealogy enthusiasts who regularly meet on the second Monday of each month at 1:30 PM. Looking for some friendly faces with which to discuss your passion for genealogy? Join the Nuts on Monday, December 12 from 12 – 2 PM.

A meeting for the Friends of the Library Coffee Klatch volunteers will take places on Wednesday, December 14 from 10 AM – 12 PM. New members are always welcome! Find out more about our Friends of the Library here!

The library will be closed all day on Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25. The library will close at 1 PM on Saturday, December 31 and remain closed on Sunday, January 1.
