Danville Public Library is welcoming a new board member! We are excited to have Don Helton Sr. on the board taking the appointment of Ann Tussey who served for 16 years. Born and raised in Danville, Don has seen the world both as an Air Force Colonel and, in retirement, as a traveler. In the Air Force, he was stationed abroad, including Germany, Italy, and Spain, and some isolated locations. He was the Director of Operations for the 123rd Tactical Control Flight out of Cincinnati, which is a forward air control unit. He spent approximately eight years abroad during his military career.
After serving his county in the Air Force, Don retired to work in the food packaging industry at Winpak. He now enjoys his time with his three grandkids, who keep him busy with their activities. He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and Past Master of the local lodge #26 F&AM. He is also a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite.
Don is an avid reader and particularly enjoys the suspense/thriller fiction genre. He is currently reading David Baldacci’s Memory Man. He is also interested in non-fiction history. As an active genealogist, he will be a particular asset to DPL’s Indiana Room. We warmly welcome this new member to our board and appreciate his volunteer service being part of the DPL team.
