Get a Library Card!

Residents of Danville (Marion Township and Center Township) are eligible for a Danville-Center Township Public Library card. Children ages 3-17 may get a library card but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when registering. Card holders are responsible for all materials that are checked out on your account. Lost or stolen cards should be reported to the library immediately. There is a $2.00 replacement fee.

Proof of residency is required when registering for a library card. Please come prepared with a photo ID that includes your current address. If your photo ID does not have your current address we will accept one of the following items:

  • Utility bill or mail showing your current address

  • A personal check showing your current address

  • A property tax statement showing that you pay taxes within the town of Danville or Center Township (the town of Danville is in District 17, Center Township is in District 2).

If you are not a resident of Center Township, but do own property in Center Township, you can get a library card. Bring in your current property tax statement when registering.

  • There are four townships in Hendricks County (Eel River, Franklin, Middle, and Union) where the residents do not pay a tax for library service. If you are a resident of one of these townships, you must pay a fee for a library card. The current fee is $76.00 (2024). This card is called a Non-Resident card and is valid for one year from the date of purchase. When you get a Non-Resident card, all members of your household (must reside within the residence) can also get a card at no additional expense.

The Danville-Center Township Public Library is continuing to serve Marion Township residents for no charge (2024).

  • If you have a library card, you may purchase the state library card, PLAC. The current fee is $65.00 (2024). The PLAC card is for individuals only and is valid for one year from date of purchase. This card entitles you to check out materials from any library in the state of Indiana (excluding Hendricks County libraries–see Reciprocal Borrowers Cards).

If you have any questions concerning addresses, boundaries, etc., please contact the Circulation Department at (317) 745-2604 ext. 150. You may also email us at circulationdesk@dplindiana.org with any questions you may have.

  • The Danville–Center Township Public Library has a reciprocal borrower agreement with Avon and Brownsburg (subject to review each year) allowing card holders from one library in the county to become card holders at another library in the county without any additional fee. You must present your resident library card at the library where you're getting an additional card. Patrons or cardholders in good standing (e.g. no unpaid fines) are issued a card for their library after presenting ID and current address. Materials must be returned to the library where they were checked out. Reciprocal borrowers are limited to items that are physically available in the library and do NOT have access to the Evergreen system or Overdrive.
